Privacy policy

Last updated: 1 October 2026

This policy explains what information GiftsMarket.ae (“we”, “us”) collects when you use this website, why we collect it and the choices you have. GiftsMarket.ae is an independent shopping guide for the UAE. We don’t sell products, take orders or handle payments, and you don’t need an account to use the site.

What we collect

When you click through to a store

We count clicks on links to stores so we know which products are useful. For each click we record the product, the store, the type of page and where the link was on it, the type of device (for example phone or computer) and the time. We don’t record your name, your IP address or anything else that identifies you.

To avoid counting the same click twice, we create a scrambled one-way code from your IP address and browser type, keep it for 10 seconds and then discard it. It can’t be turned back into your IP address and is never stored with the click.

Searches and product views

Words typed into our search box are counted so we can improve our listings, with nothing linking them to the person who searched. For a sample of page views we also count which products appeared on the page, as daily totals with no visitor details.

When you email us

If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to reply and to deal with your request.

Newsletter

If you sign up for our newsletter, your email address is held by our email provider and used only to send you the newsletter. You confirm your sign-up by email first, and every newsletter has an unsubscribe link.

Analytics

If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics (through Google Tag Manager) to understand how the site is used: pages visited, the type of device and browser, your approximate location (country or city) and how you reached us. Google processes this information under its own privacy policy. If you don’t accept, Google Analytics doesn’t set its cookies.

Advertising

We may show advertising from Google AdSense. With your consent where required, Google and its partners use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalised ads at any time in Google’s Ads Settings.

Hosting and security

Like every website, our hosting and security providers process IP addresses and technical request details to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks.

Third parties, including Amazon

Third parties, including Amazon and other advertisers, may serve content and advertisements, collect information directly from visitors, and place or recognise cookies on visitors’ browsers. When you click through to Amazon.ae or another store, that store’s own privacy policy applies to everything you do there.

For details of the cookies used on this site and how to control them, see our Cookie policy.

What we don’t do

• We don’t sell or rent personal information.
• We don’t ask you to create an account, and comments are switched off.
• We don’t build profiles of individual visitors.

How long we keep information

• Click records: 12 months, after which only monthly totals per product and store are kept.
• Product view counts: 120 days.
• Search counts: kept as totals, which contain no visitor details.
• Emails you send us: as long as needed to deal with your message.
• Newsletter address: until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

Under the UAE’s data protection law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021) and other laws that may apply to you, you can ask to see, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, or object to how we use it. Because we collect so little, this will usually only be emails you have sent us or your newsletter address. Write to giftsmarketae@gmail.com and we’ll respond as soon as we can.

Where information is processed

Some of our providers, such as Google and our email provider, may process information on servers outside the UAE. We only use providers that protect information to recognised standards.

Children

This site isn’t intended for children, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
